Rest Day 12/10/06

The Crossfit method of training prepares the individual for their chosen sport or well-being like no other.

Sports such as surfing & rugby are perfectly suited to Crossfit. They require the individual to possess cardiovascular endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy....Sound familiar???? And all of these components of fitness are addressed in every Crossfit workout.

Surfing & Rugby are not suited to Biking, jogging or isolated strength training......Then again, very few sports are!

Why doesn't the present/mainstream approach to fitness achieve the same results as Crossfit? Sport in general places demands on the body that are not symmetrical, look at the pics below, there are forces that are applied from various positions at the same time. Weight machines and strictly linear movements do not prepare the athlete for this. Complex movements [movements that activate multipul muscle groups at the sametime] that involve the whole body are the only way to mimic sport and provide specific training.

I continually hear complaints from athletes that their pre-season/pre-competition training doesn't make them 'match fit' and hear coaches say that 'this so & so programme will provide a step to you getting match fit'......What a waste of time!!!!!!! If your training doesn't mimic your sport why do it??????

The CrossFit method can be applied to all sports....Crossfit is 'match fit'.

cant see any linear fixed lined movement, gym machines, exercise bikes or 5km runs in the photos below. What I do see is ....Cardiovascular endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy....AKA Crossfit.
