The Bench Press is an overused source of focus and bragging to the globo junkie and staff alike. Usually they perform it no where near a full rep and on a smith machine or some other device to make it easier while piling on the plates. In terms of functionality/life/sport/survival, the push-up is far superior.
That being said, 'body weight' bench presses performed with full range of motion, coupled with pull-ups [again full ROM] are a great CrossFit workout.
