Metabolic Shift
When starting the Zone, or Paleo/Caveman diets, you are changing your metabolism from a "Sugar Burner" to a "Fat Burner". Its is 'draining' and tiresome for the first week [usually just 3 days] as the levels of glycogen in your liver and muscles are depleted. But its necessary for your metabolism to shift and utilise Fat [body fat and consumed fat] as The energy source [ATP].
After making this shift your body will now be fueled by "High Octane" Fat instead of "Low Octane" Glucose [derived from complex carbs and starch eg, bread,rice,pasta,potato,legumes & sugar].
